Mission and Values

The Greenhouse Nature School is a two-day per week nature program in Sauk County designed to enrich a child's education through wilderness exploration.  Nature schools have been increasingly praised for better preparing young learners for the  goal-reaching they will need in kindergarten and beyond than academically-focused preschools. We are interested in helping a child become a civilized creature who will always enjoy learning.

At GNS children are treated as intelligent people with the ability to cooperate, create, and participate in their own care. Children help design and decorate classrooms, care for their own garden and help prepare their own food.
Younger learners learn mainly through play and mimicry. Our instructors demonstrate how to respect ourselves and others, even in small things like how to dress for the weather. Our teachers are also active learners who engage with each situation creatively and consciously.
